SRINAGAR , Jul 19 (KNO) : Expressing concern over the banning of religious and spiritual channels across all cable television networks in Kashmir valley, the leaders and activists of Janta Dal (United) JD (U) led by its J&K State President G M Shaheen condemned the Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry for banning Islamic based channels that offer religious channels of all faiths to viewers and said that so what is the point in banning religious channels which is an assault on religion in a democratic country like India.

G M Shaheen while addressing the press conference at party headquarters Rajbagh Srinagar said that ordered for an immediate ban on religious and spiritual channels across all cable television networks in justice with the people of Kashmir are still deprived of watch religious recitations including live telecast of morning ‘Azaan’ and other performance are watching throughout the day on Saudi Al-Sunnah Al-Nabawiyah, Saudi-Al-Quran Al-Karim and Sehar, Karbala TV which are almost banned the Government of India without taking place the religious sentiments of the people of Kashmir valley.

“How is it possible that Saudi-based channels such as Saudi Sunnah, Saudi Al-Quran and Iran-based Karbala TV which are just telecast religion specific content or a cooking channel popular among women will incite violence,” he questioned. He further urged upon the Government of India especially the Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry to immediate lift ban on religious channels in Kashmir keeping in view of all faiths to viewers and restored the above said religious Channels so that people of Kashmir may not be deprived of watching such Channels as everyone is watching such kinds of religious Channels across the nation hassle free without implementing any ban on such cable operators running which never creates any law and order problem in India.
